About me

I'm a gardener, a mother (pronouns she/her/hers), a neighbor, a citizen, and a licensed clinical social worker with more than 40 years' experience.

I find the garden to be an apt metaphor for teaching and learning, personal and professional growth, relationships, and life itself.

Over the past 30+ years years of practicing in both public and private sectors within the Portland metro area and surrounding rural communities, I've had the privilege of nurturing the development of licensed and pre-licensed clinicians as well as providing management and executive leadership to community mental health and school-based mental health programs.

Nothing

will work

you do.

perspective & approach

Trauma-informed care is a passion of mine, and I integrate my knowledge and training in this area into clinical supervision and consultation with individual professionals as well as groups and agencies.

I have a personal interest and life experience in the area of understanding unique impacts surrounding multiracial identity in today's society.

  • EW in schools - DID I MISREAD THIS? IS IS SUPPOSED TO SAY SOCIAL WORK IN SCHOOLS?

HOW IS SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK CHANGING SINCE COVID, GIVEN REPORTED INCREASES IN DEPRESSION/ANXIETY, SUICIDE, SUBSTANCE USE, GUN PURCHASES, VIOLENCE, FINANCIAL UNCERTAINTY AND UNSTABLE HOUSING, ETC ETC?

DOCUMENTATION, MEDICAL NECESSITY AND ERRORS, RULE OUTS, RECORD SHARING, WORKING INCREASINGLY WITH MEDICAL SYSTEMS, MAINTAINING HUMANISTIC VALUES WHILE BEING PINCHED BY INSURERS/DISTRIBUTORS OF FUNDS (AS YOU WERE DESCRIBING TO ME)?

HOW ABOUT PROGRAM DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT/

MANAGEMENT/EVALUATION, UNDERSTANDING THE NEEDS OF VARIOUS POPULATIONS, DEVELOPING POLICIES, MACROVISION AND TAKING A LONG VIEW, AS OPPOSED TO SUCCUMBING TO SHORT-TERM QUICK FIXES?

SYSTEMS THINKING?

NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION?

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY?

OR, WHAT ABOUT HOW CERTAIN TYPES OF SOCIAL CHANGE (LIKE SHIFTS IN COMMUNICATION & DISAPPEARING PRIVACY AND MOVEMENT TOWARD TELEHEALTH) INTERSECT WITH CARE ETHICS?

IMPACT OF SHIFTING LANDSCAPE OF POLITICAL POLARIZATION ON ABILITY TO ADVOCATE, OBTAIN FUNDING AND SUPPORT, KEEP AGENCIES AFLOAT?

IMPLEMENTING TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE ENVIRONMENTS?

IS ANY OF THIS EVEN HELPFUL IN DEVELOPING A LIST OF POTENTIAL CONSULTATION TOPICS?
